Substance Free

Dear Freedom House Recovery, STEP clinic, and ACT Team, and Volunteers, and all the readers of the blog.

Often when we’re really struggling, the only way to find compassion for ourselves is by reaching out to a larger source of love (Tara Brach).

I’ve seen first hand how people get out of rehab and go right back to the same environment that is surrounded by drugs and alcohol as before. What can we do about this? The solution could begin with our non-profit called ‘Gardens For Earth’. We can create many many farms where people with addictions come together. This is where people with addictions meet together with volunteers. Together these people can actually do stuff besides drink.

Let us start a Gardens For Earth revolution to bring people together. We need to help heal people side by side with volunteers. One thing we can agree on is how the environment needs to change. If we work together to heal the environment it may heal our illnesses.

One idea is to start a “Substance Free Outdoor Temple.” Together we can discover how a revolution in substance abuse treatment might work. Let us start a ‘Gardens For Earth’ revolution to bring people together side by side.

We can create many many farms and sanctuaries where people with and without addictions come together. We can make it a goal to start a farm called ‘Gardens for Earth’ in every county in the state, which could be one hundred, in North Carolina.

Please share how a revolution in substance abuse treatment might work. How can Garden Rangers Help?

  1. Just think how much food we could grow locally if we did this.
