Dear Triangle Land Conservation, Interfaith Food Shuttle, and all the readers of the blog.
Our idea is called Garden Rangers. It is where people with and without mental illness can come together to help save the environment.
Garden Rangers are an organization like fire fighters or forest rangers. They do environmental work like starting gardens and planting trees.
This is where people learn valuable skills. It’s a place where volunteers, people with mental illnesses and gardeners all come together. I have met vibrant minds that need help and Garden Rangers can benefit everyone.
I know that there are people simply waiting to get this program started. There are a people getting out of treatment and have no where to go. We need to convince many many volunteers to help out.
When people from all parts of the food process come together it creates community. This helps make society better. When our food changes hands each personal connection will brighten people’s day.
We need to do something radical, we need to create many farms for people with mental illness. This could includes sourcing local food like local salads with tomatoes and cucumbers. We believe this can be a way to make money for people in our program for mental health.
