Dear Carrboro Community Garden, and NC Agricultural Extension Office, Bahai Community, NC council of Churches, Buddhist Leaders. And all the readers of the blog.
Organizing a community garden helps to encourage us to solve problems ourselves. A lot of times the government does nothing for us. If we allow fast foods and psych wards to take over then we will loose our entire culture. This is what is happening now.
One of the most basic things that we need in a culture is what we eat. Garden Rangers could be the backbone that we need. Garden Rangers can tap into food sovereignty, which means that our community is involved from start to finish, in the healthy food process. How is this economical? We make it our mission to start producing products from start to finish. These products can sell in grocery stores and make us money.
Our government doesn’t help us to do anything related to making our own local food products. Our government does not help with fair pay. And our government doesn’t help with building community. This is why we need a self government. Self government can lead to individual growth and social harmony.. Individual growth means we advance socially by making friends inside and outside of work. As a community we can advance our culture by planting and growing our food and making new recipes.
We need a self government to elect our leaders. These can be anyone who has a passion to heal people. It can be reformed alcoholics and addicts, or it can be people who want to start a community garden. Self government means taking our power back. It when we can decide to put our differences behind us and start communities that can actually heal people with community. We can call on leaders from businesses, churches, and regular people. Right now we are lacking in leadership and the only way is to elect new community leaders.
The Bahai religion elects members that are 9 people to help solve problems, and Buddhists rely on married and unmarried priests. Christian’s can for coalitions. We need to elect more leaders.
First and foremost, can you help add to our blog?
And then What can your organization do to help us?
Finally Can you help us to start an organization called Garden Rangers that helps us to organize on a local level? Can you recommend volunteers or leader?
Can you imagine a different culture based upon local food?
