‘Kindness is my religion’ is a quote by the Dalia Lama
Loving Kindness is a virtue found in all the world’s traditions. In order to protect the rainforest we have to love nature. And in order to do this we have to love one another. Chopping down the rainforest comes from a lack of sharing. If someone is so poor that they have to cut down the rainforest then we need to help them. We need to provide them food and shelter so they can find work that is more sustainable. To do this takes love, caring and kindness.
Also we need to have loving kindness so that we can give to charities that protect nature. If we have a mind of resentment, then you will probably never give money to a non-profit that saves the rainforest. We to make our purchases sustainable and so that we can be sure they do not come from the rainforest. We should practice meditation every day so that we can have a mind of love. And with a mind of love we make sure we are not harming the rainforest with our purchasing power.
Loving kindness is when we do a walk out at Walmart until the company makes sure that no products that contain palm oil from the rainforest. We need to be united with our friends at work to make this happen. It take a mind of caring each day when we come to work and make it a probity to be friends with our co-workers.
Another way to do this is to join a union. This is where we are really invested in the wellbeing of our coworkers. And we show our support by going to a union meeting. You might not realize it but going to a union here in North Carolina might actually save the rain forrest in a small way. We cannot go to Indonesia and help to prevent climate change. We can simply by not buying food that comes from the rainforests Co-workers tap into love. And we all tap into unity with people all around to world. We are even connected to trees because trees tap into the cooling power of the earth.
