Dear Kadampa Buddhist Center, and Project Pando, and all living beings, how can you both work together to create real change? And all the readers of the blog.
Compassion is the wish for others to be free of suffering. Imagine a seed from a tree from the forest falls unto the earth. Then it rains and the seed sprouts. Eventually after a long time the seed grows in to a beautiful tall tree. The same is true for planting seeds in others. We plant seeds that grow into loving kindness and this resonates to the whole community. When we harvest trees from the rainforest our whole culture hurts. The only way to reverse this process is to tap into the miracle of the seed, and begin to plant more trees. I hope that we can find a way to get more volunteers to plant trees. This benefits the trees and the volunteers both.
How do we save the rainforest? We have compassion for the loggers and find them new ways to make a living. How do we have compassion for a dirty polluted river? We travel up stream to its source an urge people not to pollute. How do we have compassion for a barren field? We plant a more trees.
How can we at Gardens Rangers help to achieve these things? Could we work together to bring loggers from Indonesia here to learn sustainable techniques?
