Dear Union of Southern Service Workers and Durham Environmental Coalition.
We need to raise minimum wage to increase solidarity on the path to healing this planet earth.
Our whole economy is hurting and when we do not pay enough it hurts us all. This happens when we don’t have time for ourselves our families and our children. People think that fast food isn’t a career but should pay as one . It is irrational when we make some professions a career and others minimum wage.
Fast food is the product of our whole culture. To change it we need to do the opposite and invest in fresh food.
We need to raise minimum wage and also make fresh food an abundance in our culture. Imagine like having parents and children working in the gardens and growing lettuce and tomatoes for fast food salad kits. Putting our food culture first is what we need. One idea to create healing on earth is to think big. We need to make our own products and create farms that are for the people and for the community. Making our products gives us marketing power and the ability to compete in a big market. Local food cuts shipping costs and provides much needed work.
We need every one together working to save this planet earth. Humanity is one family and our earth is one home. One idea to cut costs and pay more is non-profits. This is where paid employees can work alongside volunteers. These organizations can teach people valuable skills. Just imagine a culture based on loving kindness where people come together because of their own choice and free will. Having an environmentally friendly occupation should be a human right, and fair pay should be too.
How can we change our culture and minimum wage together for the better?
